Breville Aroma Style Electronic BCM600

Answers and step-by-step fixes from the official Breville manual.

What does the display or light show?

Common problems

Water or coffee isn't dripping through

  1. Is the carafe pushed in fully with its lid on? The carafe must fit securely into the hot plate with the lid on at all times or hot water or coffee may overflow.
  2. Is this near the end of the cycle? When the water level shows empty there can still be hot liquid in the filter basket. Wait a few minutes for it to finish dripping through.
  3. Still not dripping at all? Turn the machine off, switch off at the outlet, unplug and wait 10 minutes before opening the water tank lid and checking the filter basket.

Water or coffee is overflowing the filter basket

  1. Is the filter holder firmly in place? Make sure the filter holder is seated correctly and the mesh filter basket is inserted into it.
  2. Did you return the carafe right after pouring mid-cycle? If you pour a cup during brewing, put the carafe straight back on the hot plate to stop the filter basket overflowing.
  3. Is the carafe lid on and the carafe properly positioned? If it is not properly positioned on the hot plate, hot water or hot coffee may overflow.

Automatic brewing doesn't start at the set time

  1. Is the clock set to the correct time of day? The clock has to be set to the time of day for the automatic operation to work.
  2. Did you set and confirm the brew start time? Press PROGRAM, set the hour and minute for the start time, then press PROGRAM again to confirm it.
  3. Did you prepare the coffee before arming auto brew? Fill the water tank and add ground coffee following the manual brewing steps before pressing AUTO ON.
  4. Is the green auto on light lit? If it isn't lit, press the AUTO ON button so the machine is armed to brew at the set time.

Brewing is slow or the coffee tastes off

  1. Has the machine built up mineral deposits? Hard water deposits in the tank and tubes extend brew time. Run a vinegar solution through the machine to clear them.
  2. Is the coffee ground too coarse? Coarse grounds let water pass through too fast, giving poor flavour extraction. Use finely ground coffee.
  3. Is the filter basket clean? Wash the stainless steel mesh filter basket in warm soapy water, rinse and dry it after each use.
