Answers and step-by-step fixes from the official Breville manual.

What is the toaster's light or sound telling you?

Common problems

Bread or bagel is stuck in the toaster

  1. Are all the buttons and the LED flashing? That means the toaster has sensed a jam and shut the elements off on its own.
  2. Unplug the toaster and let it cool Never try to free stuck bread while the toaster is plugged in.
  3. Ease the bread out by hand Don't use a knife or any metal utensil to dig it out.

Toast comes out too light or too dark

  1. Is the browning control slide set the way you want? There are 12 settings from 1, the lightest, to 5, the darkest. Move the slide to change it.
  2. Try the A BIT MORE button if it's too light One press adds a little extra toasting time to the cycle.
  3. Does your bread type need a different setting? Light breads like raisin toast usually need a lighter setting, while heavier rye breads need a darker one.

The toaster won't start or nothing lights up

  1. Is it plugged into a working outlet? Plug it into a 110/120V outlet. The TOAST|CANCEL button surround should light up white right away.
  2. Has it gone to sleep after sitting idle? It drops into standby after 30 seconds of no use. Press any button or move the browning slide to wake it up.

Can't hear the toast ready alert, or it's too loud

  1. What is the current volume set to? It comes set to High by default, but you can change it to Low or Mute.
  2. Use LIFT & LOOK to open the volume menu Hold the LIFT & LOOK button for 2 seconds until A BIT MORE, BAGEL and FROZEN light up white, then pick a volume.
