Miele CVA 7845
Answers and step-by-step fixes from the official Miele manual.
What does the display say?
- F1, F2, F80, F82, F353, F354: Internal fault (long wait). The machine has detected an internal fault and needs to be switched off for a while before it can restart.
- F74, F77, F225, F226, F235, F353, F354: Internal fault (short wait). The machine has detected an internal fault that usually clears after a short power cycle.
- F73 or Check the brew unit: Brew unit not positioned correctly. The brew unit cannot be positioned correctly or is soiled, so it cannot press the ground coffee.
- Push the water container in until it engages.: Water container not filled or inserted correctly. A maintenance programme stopped early because the water container was not filled to the right mark.
- Check water intake and empty the water container: Mains water supply not working. The machine cannot draw water from the plumbed-in mains supply.
- F233: Cup rim sensor out of position. The cup rim sensor is not fitted correctly, or it lost its reference position after being bumped.
- F 355, F 357–F 362: Bean system needs setting up again. Coffee beans may have jammed, so the bean system needs to be set up again.
- F 307: Milk valve fault. The milk valve has a fault and needs removing and cleaning.
Common problems
The display stays dark when I try to turn it on
- Did you hold the On/Off button long enough? A quick tap is not enough to start the machine.
- Is the plug inserted correctly? Push the plug fully into the socket.
- Has a fuse tripped? This can happen if the machine, the voltage, or another appliance is defective.
The coffee doesn't taste right or the crema isn't good
- Did you pre-heat the cup? Small, thick-sided cups especially need pre-heating, for example with hot water.
- Is the brewing temperature set too low? Set a higher brewing temperature for this drink.
- Are the filters in the brew unit blocked? Remove the brew unit, clean it by hand, and degrease it.
- Are the coffee beans still fresh? Add fresh beans to the bean container.
The milk froth isn't right or milk sputters out
- Is the milk cold enough? Good froth only forms with milk below 10 degrees C.
- Is the milk pipework blocked or the milk valve soiled? Clean the milk valve following the steps in the guide.
- Have the central spout and milk flask lid been cleaned thoroughly? Dirty parts here affect how well milk is prepared.
- Is the central spout correctly fitted? An incorrectly fitted spout can cause poor milk results.
Automatic cleaning or descaling won't run
- Are all removable parts fitted? The water container, drip tray, brew unit and central spout must all be in place.
- Was the machine door closed? Close the door fully before the programme can start.
- Was the machine switched off at the start time? Automatic programmes only start if the machine is switched off at the set time.
- Does it still ask you to descale even with a cartridge fitted? Depending on water hardness and use, you may still need to run the manual descaling programme.
