Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Gen1

Answers and step-by-step fixes from the official Dyson manual.

What does the display show?

Common problems

The machine is showing an error code

  1. Have you turned it off and on again? Switching the machine off and back on often clears the error.
  2. Is the error code still showing? If turning it off and on doesn't clear it, get in touch with Dyson Customer Care.

Airflow seems weak or the machine seems dusty

  1. Is the machine dusty? Wipe it down with a damp lint-free cloth.
  2. Are the air inlet holes on the filter blocked? Check for blockages and clear them.
  3. Is the aperture inside the loop amplifier blocked? Use a soft brush to clear dust and debris from it.

The machine says the filter needs changing

  1. Has the filter life run out? The screen shows the remaining filter life and tells you when it needs replacing.
  2. Did you reset the filter life after fitting a new one? You must reset the filter life every time you replace the filter.

The room's air quality isn't improving

  1. Is the machine set to Auto mode? In Auto mode, the on-board sensors adjust settings to match air quality.
  2. Has the target air quality already been reached? The machine pauses once the target air quality is reached, then starts again if it drops.
  3. Is oscillation turned on? Oscillation helps circulate purified air around the room.
