What AnswerConnect costs, what its own price list shows, the 90-day minimum, how minutes are counted, and what reviewers say about billing.

AnswerConnect is a live answering service. Real receptionists pick up your calls and web chats 24 hours a day, every day of the year, take messages, transfer calls and follow a script you agree with them.
The hard part is finding out what it costs. The US, UK and Canadian sites all ask for your details before they show plans. This page pulls together what AnswerConnect does publish, what third parties report, how the minutes are counted, and what customers say about their bills. All figures are as of September 2026.
We build Help Genie, a voice AI product that answers product questions by phone and chat. We include it where it is a fair comparison, so weigh our entry accordingly.
Where AnswerConnect publishes prices
Most of AnswerConnect’s pricing sits behind a form. The US plans page and the UK plans page both ask for your name and business details before they show plans. The UK site does carry a banner that reads “Get started for only £45/month”, but the minutes and conditions behind that figure are not shown before the form.
One document is public. AnswerConnect’s Canadian price list is an open PDF with every plan, setup fee and overage rate, all in Canadian dollars. It is the only vendor-published rate card we could open, so the numbers below come from it.
For Australian and New Zealand readers. We found no AnswerConnect site for either country. The .com.au address did not resolve when we checked, and there is no /au or /nz section on the main site. If you are in Australia or New Zealand, ask sales which currency you would be billed in and where the receptionists are based before you compare prices.
AnswerConnect plans from the published price list
These are the Canadian plans exactly as the PDF lists them. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
| Plan | Included minutes | Monthly price | Setup fee | Each extra minute |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | 100 | C$325 | C$75 | C$2.95 |
| Growth | 300 | C$425 | None | C$2.75 |
| Standard | 450 | C$825 | C$75 | C$2.75 |
| 600 minutes | 600 | C$1,095 | C$75 | C$2.75 |
| 900 minutes | 900 | C$1,645 | C$75 | C$2.75 |
Every plan includes real people 24/7, CRM integrations and the desktop and mobile app. Growth and above add customisable scripting and live chat support. Entry comes with basic scripting.
Two billing rules sit at the bottom of the price list. The first 30 interactions under 30 seconds in each billing cycle are free. Every other interaction is rounded up to the nearest minute and billed in one-minute increments.
One oddity stands out. Growth gives you three times the minutes of Entry for C$100 more and drops the setup fee. On these numbers Entry only makes sense if you are sure you will stay under about 134 minutes a month, because past that point the overage on Entry costs more than simply buying Growth.
What third parties report for the US
AnswerConnect does not publish its US rates openly. FitMyCall reports these US figures, verified 10 September 2026. They are not confirmed by AnswerConnect.
- Entry: US$350 a month for 200 minutes, plus a US$49.99 setup fee.
- Growth: US$395 a month for 300 minutes.
- Standard: US$575 a month for 400 minutes.
- Overage: US$2.50 a minute on Entry and US$1.85 on Growth and Standard.
- Add-ons: Spanish answering at US$30 a month and HIPAA compliance at US$40 a month.
FitMyCall also notes that AnswerConnect’s own documents disagree on whether Growth carries the setup fee. Confirm it in writing before you sign.
Contract length and payment terms
AnswerConnect’s terms of service set a minimum term. The agreement “will be in effect for a minimum period of 90 calendar days.” After that, either side can end it at any time with written notice.
The same terms authorise AnswerConnect to charge your card for each monthly invoice and to charge it “immediately in the event that you accrue any overage charges.” Plan for overage to hit your card mid-month, not at the end of it.
How AnswerConnect counts a minute
This is where the real bill is made. AnswerConnect’s own FAQ says it calculates minutes “based on the total time required to handle the call, including any after-call work our receptionists do to take your messages.”
So a billed minute is not the same as a minute your caller spent on the line. It covers the talk time plus the time a receptionist spends writing up the message. Add the round-up rule and short calls grow.
A simple illustration from the published rules. A call that lasts 2 minutes 10 seconds, with 30 seconds of message write-up, is 2 minutes 40 seconds of handling time. That rounds up to 3 billed minutes. Forty of those calls in a month is 120 billed minutes, even though the talk time was under 90.
What reviewers say about billing
AnswerConnect has a strong overall rating. It scores 4.9 out of 5 on Trustpilot across more than 1,500 reviews, and most reviewers praise named receptionists and long service. The BBB lists it as accredited with an A+ rating and two closed complaints in three years.
The complaints that do appear cluster around billing. Among the 1-star Trustpilot reviews:
- September 2025: a reviewer says “calls that lasted 2 minutes and 20 seconds were rounded up to 5 minutes.”
- April 2025: a reviewer says they were “charged for 169 minutes. Over DOUBLE what was normal for our company.”
- February 2024: a reviewer says they were charged “$221 for overage charges for minutes I used that were included.”
- July 2026: a reviewer says their card was charged “nearly $6,000 in about a week without my approval.”
These are a small share of a large, mostly positive review base. They do show where to look. Ask for a sample invoice, ask how after-call work is logged, and check your first two bills against your own phone records.
Worked estimates from published numbers
These use only the Canadian price list above, in Canadian dollars, before tax. Setup fees are one-off and left out of the monthly figure.
60 calls a month at 3 billed minutes each (180 minutes). Entry would be C$325 plus 80 extra minutes at C$2.95, which is C$561. Growth covers it at C$425. Growth wins.
150 calls a month at 3 billed minutes each (450 minutes). Standard covers it at C$825. Growth plus 150 extra minutes at C$2.75 is C$837.50. Roughly a tie, and Standard adds a C$75 setup fee.
250 calls a month at 3 billed minutes each (750 minutes). The 600-minute plan plus 150 extra minutes is C$1,507.50. The 900-minute plan is C$1,645 with headroom.
A year on Growth with no overage is C$5,100. That is the floor for most small businesses on these published rates. For a wider view of what live answering costs across vendors, see /compare/help-genie-vs-answering-services.

When AnswerConnect is worth the price
AnswerConnect earns its price when a human voice matters on every call. Distressed callers, legal or medical intake, and callers who expect a person all fit here. It covers nights, weekends and public holidays, which many live services do not.
It also suits businesses with steady, predictable volume that sits comfortably inside one plan. If you rarely go over, the per-minute model is easy to live with.
When a genie makes more sense
Many calls to businesses that sell or service physical products are the same questions again and again. Is this part in stock. What size fits my model. How do I reset this. What are your hours. A receptionist reading a script bills a minute or more for each one.
Help Genie trains one genie on your own website, manuals, FAQs and price lists. It answers those questions by voice and chat as the first layer of support, then hands the rest to your team with the context attached. Pro is a flat $299 a month with no per-call or per-minute meter, so a long troubleshooting call costs the same as a short one. See how it handles product support questions.
It is voice AI, not a person. There is no human answering team behind it. If every caller must reach a human, stay with a live service. You can hear it work before you decide, and see full plans on the pricing page.

The bottom line
AnswerConnect is a well-reviewed live answering service with genuine 24/7 coverage. Its pricing is harder to see than it should be, and the way it counts minutes means your bill tracks handling time, not talk time.
Get a written quote, confirm the setup fee and the 90-day minimum, and check your first invoices against your call logs. If most of your calls are product questions a trained genie could answer, compare that against a flat monthly price before you commit.
