Hey Jodie is easy to price compared with most AI answering services. Three plans, flat monthly fees, no per-minute charges, no setup fee and no contract. Johnni, a local rival, bills by the minute once an included block runs out.
Easy to read is not the same as cheap for every business, though. The headline A$99 plan leaves out bookings and call transfers. Tax sits on top. And “unlimited” has a fair-use line in the terms that busy businesses should know about.
This page walks through every plan as published in September 2026, what each one really includes, monthly costs at three volumes, and the questions worth asking before you sign. We build Help Genie, a different kind of product at a different price, so weigh our comparison accordingly.
Hey Jodie plans at a glance
Straight from the Australian pricing page. The NZ page uses the same numbers in NZ$.
| Plan | Monthly price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | A$99 or NZ$99 | Phone answering, unlimited minutes, email alerts, message-taking, recordings, lead qualification, training on your business |
| Professional | A$199 or NZ$199 | Appointment bookings, call transfers, team members |
| Premium | A$399 or NZ$399 | Zapier integrations, priority support |
| Enterprise | From A$1,000 or NZ$1,000 | API and webhooks, custom integrations, account manager, volume discounts |
Every plan includes standard email support and the iOS and Android app. Annual billing gives two months free, which works out to paying for ten months.
What each plan actually includes
Basic is a message service. Jodie answers, asks your questions, records the call and sends you the details. It cannot book an appointment or put an urgent caller through to you. For a sole trader who calls everyone back anyway, that may be enough.
Professional is the plan Hey Jodie calls “Most Popular”. Bookings and transfers turn Jodie from a message pad into something that moves the job forward. Team members also start here, so a second person can see calls.
Premium is about connecting other tools. The only extras are Zapier and priority support. If you do not need to push call data into a CRM or job system, Premium buys you little over Professional.
Enterprise is for volume and custom work. It starts at A$1,000 a month. It is also where the terms say heavy users may be moved.
The meter, overage and fair use
Hey Jodie has no per-minute or per-call charge on any plan. The pricing FAQ says “we don’t cap your call volume on any plan.”
The terms of service add detail. Unlimited minutes are “subject to fair use of up to one thousand (1,000) Call Events per 30-day billing period.” A call event is any call that connects and starts a voice session. Spam, wrong numbers, silent and abandoned calls all count the same as a real enquiry.
If you pass 1,000 in a period, Hey Jodie “may apply reasonable, temporary safeguards”, for example metering or rate-limiting, for the rest of that period. If you “materially or repeatedly” exceed it, they may ask you to change plans, including to Enterprise.
So there is no overage fee in the usual sense. The risk is a service limit, then a plan change. 1,000 events is roughly 33 calls a day. A sole trader is unlikely to get near it. A busy multi-van business might.
Setup, contract and trial
Setup fee. None. Jodie learns from your website or Google Business profile, and you forward your number. Hey Jodie says most businesses are live in under 10 minutes.
Contract. Month to month. The terms describe rolling 30-day subscriptions that renew automatically. You can cancel anytime with no penalty, and plan changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
Price changes. The terms promise at least 30 days notice before a price change or material plan change.
Trial. First 7 days free, no card required. If you do not choose a plan, the service pauses rather than charging you.
Governing law. Jodie AI Limited is registered in England and Wales, and its terms are governed by English law. Refunds are “at our sole discretion” under UK consumer law.
GST and tax
The pricing page says prices “exclude applicable taxes” and that tax is “calculated and added at checkout based on your billing location.” It does not name a rate.
If GST is added at the standard rate, 10% in Australia and 15% in New Zealand, the plans come to these amounts.
| Plan | Australia incl. 10% GST | New Zealand incl. 15% GST |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | A$108.90 | NZ$113.85 |
| Professional | A$218.90 | NZ$228.85 |
| Premium | A$438.90 | NZ$458.85 |
| Enterprise | From A$1,100 | From NZ$1,150 |
Confirm the tax line at checkout. If you are GST registered, ask your accountant how to claim it, since the supplier is a UK company.
One price discrepancy to check
When we checked on 26 September 2026, the FAQ on Hey Jodie’s Australian homepage still said the service costs “A$49/month” with unlimited minutes. The pricing page says Basic is A$99. The pricing page is the more detailed source, so we have used it. Ask Hey Jodie which figure applies to a new sign-up before you rely on either.
What Hey Jodie costs at three volumes
These use only published prices, with 10% GST added. Minutes do not change the bill, so the plan you need is set by features and call count.
Low volume. A sole trader with 60 calls a month who calls everyone back. Basic is enough. A$108.90 a month, or A$1,089 a year on annual billing.
Medium volume. A crew of four taking 300 calls a month who want jobs booked and urgent calls put through. That needs Professional. A$218.90 a month, or A$2,189 a year on annual.
High volume. A multi-van business taking 1,200 connected calls a month, spam included, that wants call data in its CRM. Premium is A$438.90 a month. But 1,200 events is past the 1,000 fair-use line, so expect a conversation about Enterprise at A$1,100 or more with GST.
Put your own call count into the ROI calculator to see what a missed call is worth before you weigh these numbers.
How the pricing model compares
| Vendor | How you pay | Entry price as published | What pushes the bill up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hey Jodie | Flat plans, fair use on call events | A$99 plus tax | Needing bookings, Zapier, or passing 1,000 events |
| Johnni | Minutes with overage | A$49 ex GST for 60 minutes | Long calls, A$0.35 to A$0.50 a minute over |
| Smith.ai | Calls with overage | US$0 for 25 calls | Every call past the bundle, US$3 on Free |
| Goodcall | Unique customers | US$79 per agent for 100 | New callers past the cap, US$0.50 each |
| Help Genie | Flat plans, fair use | Free plan, phone from A$299 on Pro | Moving to Enterprise for multi-site |
Johnni rewards short calls. Smith.ai and Goodcall ignore call length but count calls or callers. Hey Jodie ignores both until the fair-use line. Details on Johnni alternatives and Smith.ai pricing explained. Sophiie does not publish prices at all, see Sophiie pricing.
Where Help Genie Pro sits
Help Genie Pro is A$299 a month. It is the plan with a phone number, and it is flat under fair use with no call or minute meter. Same number in NZ$ and US$.
That puts it between Hey Jodie Professional and Premium on price. The products are different, so compare the job, not the number.
Hey Jodie is the better buy if you want calls answered, messages taken, and bookings or transfers on the phone line only. Professional does that for less.
Help Genie Pro is the better buy if callers ask detailed product support questions about models, parts or servicing. One genie, trained on your manuals and price lists, answers on the phone, your website chat, a voice widget, email and QR codes. Leads land in your email with context, see lead capture. It speaks 40+ languages and carries your branding.
Where Help Genie falls short. It does not book into a calendar or send SMS. It is voice AI with no human team behind it. And like Hey Jodie, Pro runs under fair use, so ask us what that means at your volume. Full plan details on /pricing. Hear it first on /hear-it-work or ring +64 9 886 4856.
