What’s New

The new voice and personality customization system gives you three layers of control:

  • Voice selection with 50+ voice options across different accents, genders, ages, and speaking styles. Preview each one before committing.
  • Personality tuning with adjustable traits like warmth, formality, energy, and humor. Slide the dials to match your brand’s vibe.
  • Custom phrases and style rules where you define specific greetings, sign-offs, and language preferences. Tell the genie to always say “y’all” instead of “you all,” or to never use the word “unfortunately.”

Every genie in your account can have its own voice and personality. Run a friendly, casual genie for your dental practice and a polished, formal one for your law firm, all under one account.

Why We Built It

When we launched Help Genie, every genie used the same default voice. It was pleasant and professional, but it didn’t sound like your business.

A surf shop in California and a law firm in Manhattan have very different ideas of what “professional” sounds like. The surf shop wants their genie to sound relaxed and approachable. The law firm wants composed and authoritative. Both are right for their brand.

We also heard from businesses that had very specific requirements. A veterinary clinic wanted their genie to sound warm and reassuring because pet owners calling about sick animals are often anxious. A car dealership wanted their genie to sound energetic and confident because they’re competing for leads. A funeral home wanted their genie to sound calm and compassionate, with zero casual language.

The default voice couldn’t be all of those things. So we built a system that lets every business create exactly the voice they need.

How It Works

Customizing your genie’s voice and personality takes about ten minutes:

  1. Open Voice Settings for any genie in your dashboard and browse the voice library. Filter by accent, gender, age range, and speaking style. Click any voice to hear a sample with your actual genie greeting.
  2. Adjust personality traits using the five core sliders:
    • Warmth (clinical to friendly)
    • Formality (casual to formal)
    • Energy (calm to enthusiastic)
    • Verbosity (concise to detailed)
    • Empathy (matter-of-fact to compassionate)
  3. Add custom style rules in plain language. Examples: “Always introduce yourself as Sarah,” “End every call with ‘Have a wonderful day’,” “If the caller sounds frustrated, slow down and acknowledge their concern before troubleshooting.”
  4. Preview with a test call to hear how your customized genie sounds in a real conversation. Adjust and re-test until it feels right.

Pro tip: Start with a preset that matches your industry, then adjust one slider at a time. Test after each change so you can hear exactly what each trait does to the voice.

Select a preset, then fine-tune from there. Most businesses find their ideal settings within two or three test calls.
