Sophiie is a Gold Coast company that answers calls for trade businesses using voice AI. It then turns those calls into job cards, quotes, invoices and follow-ups. It has grown fast since launching in August 2024 and now says it has 1,600+ customers across four countries.
This review looks at what Sophiie does well, what independent reviewers and customers say, where it falls short, and who should and should not buy it. Everything is sourced and dated September 2026.
We build Help Genie, which competes with Sophiie in some cases, so weigh our view accordingly. We have tried to give Sophiie credit where it has earned it. If you have already decided to shop around, go to Sophiie alternatives. If cost is the question, go to Sophiie pricing.

What Sophiie does well
It is built for trades, not adapted to them. The product covers the whole trade workflow, from the first call to the paid invoice. It lists 18 trade categories, from electricians and plumbers to roofers and cleaners. Callers get asked the questions a tradie would ask, and the job lands with the details filled in.
The job-management integrations are real. ServiceM8 and simPRO are the two names most Australian trades care about, and Sophiie connects to both. Add Xero and QuickBooks and the chain from call to invoice stays inside tools you already pay for.
It goes past answering. The product page covers warm and cold call transfers to your team, transcribed voicemail, SMS replies, email replies, quote sending and payment reminders. Many competitors stop at taking a message.
It is Australian. Built on the Gold Coast, with Australian voices and trade terms in mind. A local company in your time zone matters when something breaks on a Monday morning.
It is moving quickly. In September 2025 Sophiie launched a self-setup feature so customers can train and adjust the agent themselves (announcement). Its about page says it was named a finalist in the Startup Daily Best in Tech Awards in August 2026.
Scale. Sophiie says it can handle 10,000 calls at once. For a sole trader that is overkill. For a franchise group during a heatwave it means no busy signal.
What reviewers and customers say
Independent review volume is thin for a company this size. Here is what we could find and verify.
Google. Sophiie’s homepage shows a 4.8 out of 5 Google rating. The review count is not shown on the page, and we have not verified it independently.
ServiceScale. The Australian trade-app directory ServiceScale scores Sophiie 4.5 out of 5 from 15 reviews. Its sub-scores are 4.4 for ease of use, 4.6 for customer support, 4.3 for value for money and 4.4 for features. It says Sophiie suits sole traders and small trade teams of 1 to 5 staff. It also flags weaknesses. It calls Sophiie an “early-stage product” with a “limited review base”. It says callers may notice they are speaking to AI, and that complex enquiries still need a human follow-up. It also notes fewer integrations than some competitors.
FeaturedCustomers. FeaturedCustomers shows 4.8 out of 5 from 106 reference ratings. The visible testimonials praise call quality. A blinds business says it likes that the client’s name and needs are listed so it can call back ready to act.
Customer testimonials on Sophiie’s site. The same blinds and shutters owner writes that Sophiie costs “80$ a week” with “no sick days no holidays”. Vendor-hosted testimonials are real signals, but they are selected by the vendor.
App Store. The Sophiie iOS app shows 5.0 from a single rating (App Store). Too few to mean much.
Tradie Assistant. The Tradie Assistant roundup says Sophiie does one thing and appears to do it well. It also calls the setup cost “a significant commitment for a sole trader”.
ProductReview.com.au and Reddit. We found no ProductReview.com.au listing for Sophiie. Web searches for Reddit threads on Sophiie returned nothing we could quote. Absence is not a bad sign, but it means fewer unfiltered voices to check against.
Competitor comparison pages. Hey Jodie states Sophiie has no verified G2 or Capterra reviews and does not publish contract length. Aussie AI Agency says the setup fee is typically not refundable and that integrations for healthcare and legal practice software are basic. Both sell competing products, so read them as claims to check.
Where Sophiie falls short
No public price. You cannot budget before a demo. Third parties report around A$300 a month plus a setup fee between A$400 and A$1,200. Our pricing guide shows the first-year maths.
Setup fee as a sunk cost. If it does not suit your business, reported setup fees are unlikely to come back. Ask about refunds or a trial before paying.
Contract terms are not published. Minimum term and notice period are not on the site. Get them in writing.
It is still AI. ServiceScale notes some callers notice they are talking to AI and complex calls still go back to you. That is true of every product in this category, including ours.
Trade workflow focus. Sophiie is built around booking a job. If most of your calls are “which model suits me”, “is this part in stock” or “what does error code E4 mean”, the answer quality depends on how much product detail you load in during setup.
Who Sophiie suits
Sole traders and small crews on ServiceM8 or simPRO. The job-booking integration is the main reason to pick it.
Trades that miss calls on the tools. If you are under a house or up a ladder most of the day, calls answered and booked while you work is the whole value.
Owners who want calls, quotes and invoices in one place. If you would otherwise pay for separate quoting and chasing tools, Sophiie’s bundle may cost less than it looks.
Owners who want a guided setup. If you would rather have someone scope and build it with you than set it up yourself, a demo-led sale suits you.
Who should look elsewhere
Owners who want a published price and no setup fee. Hey Jodie and Johnni publish AUD prices with no setup fee and month-to-month terms. See Hey Jodie alternatives and Johnni alternatives.
Businesses that already have someone on the phones. ServiceScale notes Sophiie is not a fit where reception is already covered. Use it for overflow or after hours instead, or skip it.
Anyone who wants a human voice every time. A live answering service like OfficeHQ or OracleCMS fits better. See answering services compared.
Businesses whose callers ask product questions. Dealers, equipment hire, appliance and solar businesses get a lot of calls about specs, parts and how things work. Help Genie is built for that. It trains one genie on your manuals, FAQs and price lists and answers by voice and chat on phone, web, email and QR. It does not book into ServiceM8, quote or send SMS, so it is a different tool, not a copy. Pro is $299 a month with no per-call meter (pricing). Try the demo line on +64 9 886 4856 or see how it handles equipment questions.
- Built end to end for Australian trades
- ServiceM8, simPRO, Xero and QuickBooks connections
- Quotes, invoices and follow-ups beyond the call
- Strong ratings where reviews exist
- No published price or tiers
- Reported setup fee of A$400 to A$1,200
- Contract length and notice period not published
- Few independent reviews outside Google
How to test Sophiie before you commit
On the demo, ask for a test number and ring it as a customer with your three hardest real questions. Include an emergency, a price question and a question about something you sell.
Ask for a call recording and transcript from the demo so you can judge it after the call. Ask to run it on overflow or after hours for a few weeks before it takes every call. Then compare booked jobs against what voicemail was getting you. The ROI calculator helps you put a dollar figure on that difference.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sophiie legit? Yes. It is an Australian company founded in 2024 with named founders, a public team and 1,600+ customers by its own count. Our concerns are about pricing transparency, not legitimacy.
Is Sophiie any good? Where reviews exist they are strong. ServiceScale scores it 4.5 out of 5, and Sophiie shows 4.8 on Google. The independent review base is still small, so run your own test calls.
Does Sophiie sound like a real person? It aims to, and customers praise the call quality. ServiceScale notes some callers can still tell it is AI.
Does Sophiie work in New Zealand? Sophiie lists New Zealand as one of its four markets. Check local number support and NZD pricing on the demo.
What is the best alternative to Sophiie? It depends on the job. Johnni for ServiceM8 booking with a price list, Hey Jodie for the simplest flat bill, and Help Genie for product questions answered from your own documents. The full list is at Sophiie alternatives.
The bottom line
Sophiie is a well-built, fast-growing AI call answering product for Australian trades. Its ServiceM8 and simPRO integrations and its call-to-invoice workflow are real strengths. The ratings that exist are good.
The weak points are commercial, not technical. There is no public price, a reported setup fee and unpublished contract terms, plus a small pool of independent reviews. If you are a small trade team on ServiceM8 or simPRO, book the demo and get everything in writing. If your callers mostly ask about products, see how Help Genie works or browse more on /compare.
